The Summit Federal Credit Union Taste of Syracuse, Central New York’s biggest food and music festival, welcomed an estimated 200,000 people over two days this past June. Produced by Galaxy Events, the festival featured hundreds of eateries and food trucks and non-stop music with over 33 bands including Eve 6 and The Spin Doctors. In addition to welcoming large crowds steadily throughout the festival, over $23,000 was collected for local charities.
Representatives from The Summit and Tops Friendly Markets gathered Tuesday, August 2nd at Clinton Square in Downtown Syracuse to present a check for $11,936.25 each to the two festival beneficiaries: PEACE Inc. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Onondaga County, and Sleep in Heavenly Peace. The money collected was a joint effort between The Summit Federal Credit Union and Tops Friendly Markets, Taste of Syracuse sponsors. 100% of the funds collected from both organizations were donated to the two beneficiaries. Since 2017, The Summit and Tops Friendly Markets have helped to raise over $101,000 for Central New York charities.
“We are thrilled that we were able to recognize and raise money for these two local charities that make a big difference in Central New York,” said Twanda Christensen, Vice President of Marketing and Community Engagement for The Summit Federal Credit Union.
“We thank everyone that stopped by our tent to help us support PEACE Inc. Big Brothers Big Sisters and Sleep in Heavenly Peace and we were thrilled to be able to donate 100% of our proceeds to benefit these wonderful charities,” said Kathleen Allen, Senior Manager of Community Relations for Tops Friendly Markets.
